Hawaii Nui Brewing

The main brewery on the east side of the island, Hawaii Nui Brewing is the place locals and visitors go when they want a tasty beer and a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Located in Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii, Hawaii Nui Brewing offers fine craft beers that are all made locally in Hawaii, which include Kauai golden ale, sunset amber ale, hapa brown ale, and southern style Belgian style double red ale. Proud to be an independent craft brewer, Hawaii Nui Brewing brews and cans all of their beers locally, right in Hilo, on the Big Island! Established in 2007, each all-natural beer and lager that Hawaii Nui Brewing brews is made from the finest barley malt, wheat, hops, and yeast out there. Offering tastings at their state-of-the-art brewery, Hawaii Nui Brewing has wonderful and knowledgeable hosts that are there to help guests learn all about the beers that are brewed at the brewery. With a retail store as well, Hawaii Nui Brewing sells branded t-shirts, glasses, and much more, as well as kegs, cans, and growlers! If you’ve noticed that Hawaii Nui and Mehana Brewing are in the same building, that’s because they joined forces over a decade ago. When Mehana Brewing decided to expand, they began looking for investors. At that time, Hawaii Nui had recently purchased the Keoki Brewery on Kaua’i. When they merged with Mehana, they moved all their brewing equipment from Kaua’i to the Big Island. Then, in 2009 the original owners of Mehana retired and Hawaii Nui took over the brewery. Out of respect for the family, they keep the Mehana name on the original recipes and the new recipes get the Hawaii Nui name. Also known for putting on fun events and parties, like The Mehana BIG Game Party for the Super Bowl which included seating for over 120 guests, 6 big-screen televisions to watch the game, a buffet menu with a build-your-own-burger station, and Big Island Mehana and Hawaii Nui Beer served all night long!
