If you’ve noticed that Hawaii Nui Brewing and Mehana Brewing are in the same building, that’s because they joined forces over a decade ago. When Mehana Brewing decided to expand, they began looking for investors. At that time, Hawaii Nui had recently purchased the Keoki Brewery on Kaua’i. When they merged with Mehana, they moved all their brewing equipment from Kaua’i to the Big Island. Then, in 2009 the original owners of Mehana retired and Hawaii Nui took over the brewery. Out of respect for the family, they keep the Mehana name on the original recipes and the new recipes get the Hawaii Nui name.
