Unique and fun for kids of all ages, the Ocean Rider Seahorse Farm, which opened in 1998, is an amazing experience in and of itself. With farm-raised seahorses housed in aquariums that can be seen up-close and personal, as well as many other marine wildlife, including leafy and weedy sea dragons, and over 20 endangered species, the Ocean Rider Seahorse Farm, located in Kailua Kona, Hawaii is an aquatic-lover’s dream. Focusing on providing only the strictest organic and “good farming” practices possible in order to breed and raise seahorses and other aquatic life in Hawaii, Ocean Rider is consistently focused on inspiring ocean awareness in the world, and saving aquatic life from dangers through education, research, conservation, and propagation processes. Tour DescriptionLed by naturalists, each with a certified biology degree, many who have had the opportunity to experience an Ocean Rider Seahorse tour describe them as life-changing and extremely informative. Along with learning about ocean conservation and seahorse aqua farming, you will be able to see, feed and hold seahorses! There is an interactive tide pool and fish feeding station as well as a seahorse gift shop. CostFor general admission, tickets costs $41 online and $43 at the door. Children’s tour tickets, for ages 4-12, are $31 online, and $33 at the door. Admission for children under the age of 3 is free. No refunds are given for tickets that have already been purchased. The price of admission goes to saving seahorses, since they are currently on the endangered species list, and very close to extinction. HoursSeahorse tours are offered at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm daily, plan for about 1.5 hours to visit the farm. Reservations are required in order to see the seahorses and should be made in advance to secure a spot on the tour.
