Under the Bodhi Tree

By May 14, 2020No Comments

Under the Bodhi Tree was founded with the intent of serving quality Hawaiian, organic produce with flavorful flair. This unassuming restaurant opened in July 2014 by Abraham Go and Chef Stephen Rouelle. As the former Executive Chef at the Fairmont Orchid, Chef Stephen decidedly transitioned to raw veganism. The resulting physical and mental benefits inspired him to share his newfound knowledge, so the two set out to provide healthy alternatives for those seeking raw food with robust and satisfying taste. Whether you’re a carnivore or an herbivore, Under The Bodhi Tree is sure to satisfy even the most discerning meat-lovers’ palette with its creative vegan alternatives. Their Raw Banana Soft Serve tastes like rich creamy, banana ice cream; and with a sprinkle of Hawaiian cocoa nibs, raw coconut, and macadamia nuts, you’ll go ape! The Nahkon Noodles is a gluten-free dish with tender rice noodles coated in a light curry sauce, blissfully transporting you to exotic India. If any of this sounds Greek to you, try the Pythagoras Pita Pocket with cucumber, greek tofu ‘feta’, pepperoncini, drizzled with lemon herb dressing and “Opa!” The team is extremely friendly, taking the time to go over the various, customizable options. With their offshoot, Bhodi Tree Juicery in Waikoloa Town Center, coming in 2018, the Boys of Bhodi are spreading the veganism word. It’s a great place for lunch and early dinner with nice outside seating located in The Shops at Mauna Lani.
