A beautiful story of resilience and love

Moving to The Big Island of Hawaii

I hope this story about this beautiful family encourages you to not give up on this market!

Melissa, Devin and their awesome family were trying to find a home here in Kailua Kona. Timeframe was tight as the family’s rental lease agreement was ending soon. Well, all of a sudden, I came across a listing that was in preview status. I called the agent at 4pm and by 6pm we were at home.

The tour was perfect, the home was perfect, and by 8pm we were writing the offer! This home has a pool and a cute back yard for the family’s pups. Plus a huge bonus that it has an amazing downstairs area that can be rented if needed.

This home checked all the boxes for Melissa and Devin, and although we hit many roadblocks on the way to closing, they loved this property and knew it was perfect for their family. Looking back, all of that hard work was worth it because they are now enjoying the most beautiful sunsets from their expansive lanai and have a place they can call home.

Our offer was competitive, over asking in fact, but most importantly, we did a few things right that helped get our offer accepted:

  1. Organized a well thought-out offer (and did the research prior to submitting)
  2. Included the pre-approval with the offer and added the lender to the offer submission letter so he could brag up what a qualified buyer we had.
  3. Communicated well before, during and after the offer was submitted. We were prompt to answer any and all questions in a very timely fashion.
  4. Provided info to the sellers’ agent to help them understand who my buyer was and why they were a strong candidate.

So don’t give up hope if you don’t get it on the first attempt. When going through the home buying process, I like to remember “if it wasn’t meant to be…it wasn’t meant to be.” But in this case, it was meant to be! Keep going!
